Jelena Russian Sage

Jelena Russian Sage

Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Jelena'

A compact selection of Russian Sage that brings the signature haze of violet-blue flowers and silver-gray aromatic foliage in a tighter, more upright form, exceptional combined drought and deer resistance in a plant that blooms all summer.

  • Profuse violet-blue flowers on compact, upright spikes from July through September
  • Lacy silver-gray foliage is intensely aromatic, pleasantly so for gardeners, but off-putting to deer
  • Shrub-like perennial habit bridges the gap between herbaceous perennials and woody shrubs

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Perovskia is drought tolerant and dislikes winter wetness, growing best in an average to dry, well-drained soil, in full sun. In the fall, spent flower spikes can be pruned off for a tidier appearance. Note: Perovskia should not be pruned too far back until new growth emerges in the spring, and once the new growth appears, prune back to no lower than 30 cm.
