Marie's Doublefile Viburnum

Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Mariesii'

This selection has one of the most distinctive habits of any flowering shrub, its branches grow in tiers of near-horizontal layers, and the flowers are held flat along the top of each layer, creating a horizontal architectural display unlike any other viburnum.

  • Flat-topped white flower clusters are held flat along the top of tiered horizontal branches, a uniquely architectural floral display
  • Flowers have fertile florets in the centre surrounded by a sterile outer ring of white bracts
  • Red fruit turns black and is attractive to birds in late summer
  • Green textured leaves turn red-purple in fall, completing the four-season display

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Viburnum is best grown in a medium, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Any necessary pruning should be done soon after flowering, to ensure the next year's bud set.
