Little Heath Japanese Pieris, Little Heath Japanese Andromeda

Pieris japonica 'Little Heath'

Little Heath Japanese Pieris offers year-round ornamental interest in a small package, its bronze-red new leaves edged with cream change through the season, fragrant white spring flowers cascade in chains, and the slow growth keeps it proportionate to borders and containers for decades.

  • New leaves emerge bronze-red, gradually developing a creamy-white edge as they mature, a variegation that shifts through the season
  • Panicles of slightly fragrant white bell-shaped flowers cascade in spring
  • Very slow-growing mounding habit, proportionate to mixed borders and containers for many years without becoming invasive

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Pieris grows best in constant moisture, (but not standing water), in a fertile soil with a low pH. Seed capsules should be removed to promote next year's flower. Young plants can benefit from protection (burlap wrap) against drying winter winds and winter sun in an exposed location.
