  • Panicled seed heads emerge terminally; beige-brown seeds form groups of small spikelets

Grows in marshes, along pond shorelines, and in bogs, in full sun to light shade. This sedge spreads by rhizomes and can be grown in water up to 1.5 m deep.
Notes
Native to Ontario and most of North America. Scirpus acutus was its old botanical name. It's been changed to Schoenoplectus acutus
