Greek Oregano - Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum

Greek Oregano

Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum

This selection is the culinary oregano, the intensely aromatic subspecies used in Mediterranean cooking that delivers far more flavour than the common ornamental oregano sold at most garden centres, while still produces ornamental white blooms in summer.

  • Woody perennial with rounded to ovate leaves that are the most aromatic and flavourful of all oreganos, used fresh or dried
  • Tiny two-lipped white blooms appear in July, attracting pollinators
  • Gray-green foliage provides a neutral, textural contrast to brighter plants in the border
  • Excellent heat and drought tolerance once established
