Very desirable fruit makes this plant worth the work to grow in our climate. Wood frame structures clad with clear plastic can be built to protect the figs that are planted in the ground. Figs planted in containers should be placed in a protected place for the winter.
Notes
The Desert King produces fruit two years after planting andfruit on both new and old wood.  Fruiting mid-summer producing plentiful fruits with a mildly yellow green skin and a blazing red interior.These trees are low maintenance and will thrive in the full sun. An attractive tree for garden or landscape. Ripe fruit is safe for human consumption; sap and leaves can cause skin irritation and are toxic to pets.
