Cranberry Coneflower

Cranberry Coneflower

Echinacea x Double Scoop™ Cranberry ('Balscanery')

This hybrid coneflower bears red flowers in summer fall, a pollinator-rich perennial providing vivid colour through the summer months and ornamental seed heads through winter.

  • Red flowers with prominent central cones attract butterflies, bees, and goldfinches through the summer bloom period.
  • Dried seed heads provide winter interest and feed goldfinches through the cold months; leave stems standing until spring.
  • Upright habit, reaching 65 cm at maturity; drought tolerant once established; avoid overly rich soils that favour lush growth over flowering.
  • Best in full sun to partial shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil.

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Echinacea thrives in an average to moist, well-drained soil, in full sun to partial shade. They are drought tolerant once established and adaptable to heat and poor soils. Taller cultivars may grow leggy and require staking if grown in dense shade. Regular deadheading is recommended to improve appearance, but not necessary to increase bloom time. Direct sun exposure helps develop proper flower pigmentation. Pay special attention to plant depth: crown must be at or slightly above soil level.
