Burr Oak

A native oak with strong structure, wildlife value, and excellent long-term landscape performance.

• Pyramidal when young, maturing to a broad, spreading, rounded crown
• Twigs are sometimes ridged with corky "wings"
• Dark green leaves are leathery with deep round lobes and a distinctive 'waist'
• Insignificant flowers (catkins) are followed by oval acorns
• Fall colours are pale yellow to brown
• Commonly used for specimen, naturalizing
• Grows best in full sun
