Thrives in a moist to wet soil, or planted along water edges where the roots are submerged no deeper than 30 cm. Garden ponds and water gardens. Will self-sow aggressively in a suitable setting, and can become invasive.
Notes
Also referred to as Devil's Spoons, European Water Plantain, Thumbwort, Water Plantain. The word alisma is derived from the Celtic word meaning water. It has many medicinal uses, including treatment of rabies, hence the common name "Mad-Dog Weed".
