Alaskan Burnet, Menzies' Burnet

Alaskan Burnet produces bottlebrush flower spikes in an unusual pattern, opening from the top of the spike downward, with a rich crimson-red colour genuinely uncommon among tall late-summer perennials where most colour is yellow, pink, or white.
