Rocky Mountain Douglas-Fir

Rocky Mountain Douglas-Fir

Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca

This selection is the cold-hardier, more compact mountain variety of the species: a classic pyramidal evergreen with blue-green needles and outstanding adaptability to harsh sites.

  • Pyramidal form with horizontal to slightly drooping branch tips
  • Soft blue-green needles with a pleasant resinous fragrance when crushed
  • More compact and cold-hardy than the coastal Pacific form
  • Distinctive cones with protruding three-pronged bracts are ornamentally attractive
  • Adaptable to dry, rocky, and exposed sites
